Why Foundations?

God has been strongly impressing upon me in the past weeks just how essential foundations are to His Kingdom. It is time that we demonstrate that we are of His city. It is obvious that we are no longer standing on the foundations of the prophets and apostles. Throughout scripture, foundations are considered essential. Yet, how many Christians can explain the foundation on which they stand?

And they that shall be of thee shall build the old waste places: thou shalt raise up the foundations of many generations; and thou shalt be called, The repairer of the breach, The restorer of paths to dwell in.  Isa 58:12

And every one that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand: Mt 7:26

And they shall build the old wastes, they shall raise up the former desolations, and they shall repair the waste cities, the desolations of many generations.  Isa 61:4

Then said I unto them, Ye see the distress that we are in, how Jerusalem lieth waste, and the gates thereof are burned with fire: come, and let us build up the wall of Jerusalem, that we be no more a reproach.  Ne 2:17

But it came to pass, that when Sanballat heard that we builded the wall, he was wroth, and took great indignation, and mocked the Jews  Ne 4:1

One can be certain that those who re-build the walls and foundations will be mocked and hated.

If the foundations be destroyed, what can the righteous do?  Ps 11:3

The first step is to restore the foundations laid by Jesus and the apostles.

The reader will also find that, in scripture, those who tried to restore a foundation were always the brunt of oppression from within and without. The prophets, the apostles, Jesus, Luther, Wesley, and many others gain honor only long after their death.

The focus of His prompting was to show me areas where true foundations were corrupted and usurped by Humanism. This report may seem negative because it does focus on the cancer that has infected Christianity. The true foundations become quite apparent once definitions are clarified. They have only been hidden by the clutter of Humanism and its re-definitions

It may seem that I am spending an inordinate time pointing out the parts of the definitions currently left out of Christianity and am ignoring the rest. It is like parenting. Families are mostly congenial, loving, and bonded. And that is what Christianity is focused on in the wrong way – and to the exclusion of firm direction.

However, sound families are also based on a need for order, discipline, correction and training so that all can enjoy growth and safety. The parent who neglects the not-so-fun part of parenting, is hurting the child. Christianity has neglected the not-so-fun part of discipleship and this has resulted in weak Christians, a weak church, a weak testimony, and a weak and corrupted gospel. Parenting can be uncomfortable because we would rather give kisses rather than correction. That is bad parenting and bad Christianity. And bad parenting and bad Christianity currently rule the day. It is unfortunate that the church does not realize that it has an unruly and disobedient and selfish child on its hands that needs a different approach than one who has been trained up well.

Could it be that the fault of the lousy parenting of today, lies at the doorstep of the church who has departed from the ways of godly discipline?

God often tells us what His Kingdom is not and what He is not like and what Christians should not be like in order to more clarify Who He is, What He is like, What is people are like and how they should walk. To the distaste of many, that approach may be more pronounced on this site than in most other articles you will read about God and His Kingdom.

Truth often gets uncomfortable. But that is the start of liberty. Just as it was not comfortable when you were first saved to confront your sins and wickedness, it was that same truth that set you free. The idea that the seeking of truth will be pleasant to the flesh does not come from scripture.

The following represents what has been revealed to me. All I can state is that this is the extent of understanding and revelation given to me. It is what I know in part and see in part.

Unfortunately, because I admit there may be more, there will be a tendency to for readers dismiss it or parts of it. Rather, let it test and clarify your own foundations and fill in my empty places, strengthen my weak places, correct my wrong places.

If you have other foundations God has revealed to you, then please let me know and understand them. If you see dangers or misrepresentations or misunderstandings in my presentation, please care enough about me to show me, scripturally, my errors.

It is suggested that you read them in this order because some thoughts and themes are based thoughts developed in previous articles.
