Visions, Prophesies, Manifestations
NONE of those who had dreams and visions touted
or promoted them. They were silent
about them. Paul was almost ashamed that he had to tell of a vision he
had -- he did
not even clearly admit that it was his vision. He also worked signs and
he did not glory in them or promote them -- He gloried in his

which it is not lawful for a man to utter. (Yet,
all of a sudden, God wants us to blab about every detail?)
5 Of such an one will I glory: yet of myself I will not glory,
but in mine infirmities.
For though I would desire to glory, I shall not be a fool; for I will
say the truth: but now I forbear, lest any man should think of me above
that which he seeth me to be, or that he heareth of me.
7 And lest I
should be exalted above measure through the abundance of the
revelations, there was given to me a thorn in the flesh, the messenger
of Satan to buffet me, lest I should be exalted above measure.

will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power

10 Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in
reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ's

nothing am I behind the very chiefest apostles, though I be nothing.
12 Truly the signs of an apostle were wrought among you in all
patience, in signs, and wonders, and mighty deeds.
Even though the bible
says that dreams, visions, and prophecies will be given to and
through people by God, there is very little mention of those dreams,
prophecies in the bible. Even the signs and wonders performed by the
apostles are not
emphasized. Teaching the word and proclaiming the Gospel of Jesus
Christ and warning
about counterfeits is the centerpiece of the epistles.
This is very much UNlike the practice of today.
Every “hot” church, every “anointed”
ministry is primarily proclaiming the dreams, visions, experiences, and
and others have had. While some do talk about the gospel and salvation,
it is not their
One of the problems that has occurred with the dispersing of these
visions, dreams, and
prophesies, is that others have built doctrine or proof texts on them.
Any dream, vision,
prophecy, revelation or experience that doesn’t turn you more to the
Word of God and to
the true gospel of Jesus Christ, is one we should flee from.
